Blue Water Ropes

Your Partner Against Gravity
BlueWater traces its roots to a family owned textile mill begun in 1905. Five generations later they're still in manufacturing. BlueWater has been crafting ropes for life safety for over 35 years. When they began manufacturing the first static kernmantle rope there were no modern solutions for professional rope and equipment needs. The now famous BlueWater II rope was born of this era, originally designed for the rigorous mud, rock and water conditions of caving. Today their constructions constantly evolve making BlueWater the leader in innovation, quality, performance and value. BlueWater continues as a family run operation ensuring you of the very highest quality products available.
Static (Low Elongation) Ropes
BlueWater offered the world's first static kernmantle rope for caving in 1969. This design evolved into the current BlueWater II Plus series of low elongation/static ropes. Today their ropes still set the world standard in quality, design and durability. It is vital for a low elongation rope to absorb the energy of accidental loading which could result in rope or anchor failure or individual injury. Only BlueWater ropes are designed to absorb this energy and limit these risks. The sheath and core strands of all BlueWater ropes are meticulously prepared prior to their final construction. This doubles the amount of time needed to manufacture each individual strand before braiding, but we agree the result is worth the extra time and attention.
Dynamic Ropes
The best climbing ropes balance the following characteristics: light weight, low impact force, durability and superb handling. BlueWater's proprietary Duration Thermal Stabilization (DTS) process (where the nylon undergoes the critical heat treatment processl is so precise, it allows them to achieve a better balanced rope. Check for yourself, BlueWater ropes have the best specs period.
They've also raised the bar for dryness and rope longevity with their Double-Dry™. treatment. It is applied to each individual fiber in the sheath and core. Double-Dry allows just 11 % water absorption (compared to the standard 20% to 30%) so your rope remains light and flexible under adverse conditions. Double-Dry also increases rope longevity and is an option on all of our dynamic cords. The more you know about ropes, the more you'll demand BlueWater.
Specialty Ropes
Specialty ropes are a favorite of BlueWater. One could argue that all of their ropes are in some way a specialty rope. BlueWater ropes are world renowned for their performance and ingenious designs.

BlueWater® Low Elongation Rope
Yates and BlueWater bring you the ultimate ropes for hard use. Through extensive design and testing we have achieved the perfect balance of strength, abrasion resistance, and load absorption with no sheath slippage during ascending and descending. Knotability is excellent. Overall the best choice in work and rescue rope.

(A) NFPA 5/8 and 1/2 Inch (General Use), 7/16 Inch (Light Use)
16 carrier polyester sheath over a double twist nylon cable core. This unique balance of sheath and core produces a rope with exceptionally good handling and resistance to abrasion. The polyester sheath provides added protection from ultraviolet light and chemicals harmful to nylon. Designed with load absorption capabilities to provide additional safety in the event an accidental shock force is applied to the rope. UL classified to meet NFPA 1983/2006 edition standards.

(B) SpecStatic Low Elongation Polyester 1/2 and 7/16 Inch
Constructed of 100% low elongation polyester fibers. Static elongation is a very low 2.6% at 600 lb. load. Used when the need for low elongation is more important than the need for higher energy absorption such as haul systems, long rappels and highlines. SpecStatic should not be used as a belay line. UL classified to meet NFPA 1983/2006 edition standards.

(D) ArmorTech™ Technora®
A new concept in rope, designed for high heat situations such as welding. Slag actually bounces off! The unique design of BlueWater's ArmorTech rope also gives it excellent cut resistant properties, advantageous in rock scaling and construction applications. Essentially a rope in a rope, it is constructed by braiding a Technora sheath over a kernmantle rope. Even after complete failure of the Technora sheath, the underlying rope still maintains its full strength. 1/2 inch version is UL classified to meet NFPA 1983/2006 edition General use standards.

(B) ProTac™ 10.5, 11 mm (light Use), 1/2 inch (General Use)
32 carrier polyester sheath braided over a double twist nylon cable core. ProTac rope is slightly smaller diameter than standard 7/16 Assaultline by the use of a greater number of smaller diameter sheath yarns. 50/50 ratio of sheath to core ensures good abrasion resistance. Smoother running in descent control devices. Originally developed for the FBI training center in Quantico, Virginia, this construction technique has been recognized in the tactical community as the best all around rappel rope available today. 11 mm and 1/2 inch are UL classified to meet NFPA 1983/2006 edition standards.
