|The helmet communication system from MSA is a state of the art radio interface device which significantly improves the user's ability to receive and send messages even in loud ambient noise environments. It goes wherever you go. The system consists of a helmet mounted microphone and ear speaker assembly that weighs 5.3 oz. and easily snaps onto the user's fire helmet or industrial style helmet's ratchet suspension. The helmet mic/ear speaker assembly connects to a lapel microphone or optional stand alone PTT (push to talk) unit. The lapel microphone and PTT are permanently fitted with a connector for attachement to the specific radio of choice. The helmet communication system also offers a plug-in truck communication adapter that can be used by firefighters, along with their helmet microphone assembly, on the way to a fire scene or other incident. Once the firefighter arrives at the scene, the truck system cable is unplugged from the helmet microphone and the helmet microphone cable end is connected to the users lapel mic or PTT.

|MSA's ClearCommand Communications System is designed specifically to meet the modern communications needs of firefighters. Because it's available in two versions, amplifier and amplifier with radio interface, firefighting teams can be properly fitted for the job at hand. Also, the systems are designed for "shared use" of the amplifier with a unique "bus-bar" arrangement, so individual issue is not required.
The ClearCommand systems feature an internally mounted microphone coupled with a large diameter (50 mm) amplifier speaker for optimal clarity and volume. Using a patented circuit design, the system delivers more than twice the volume of a facepiece alone. Mounted in an "out-of-the-way" position, the ClearCommand system doesn't block vision or mechanical communication. The Ultra Elite's mechanical voicemitter is still fully functional, even with the system installed.
The radio interface version features the same amplifier as the amp-only version, combined with an ear-speaker for incoming radio messages and a lapel mic assembly for interface with over 100 radios. The lapel mic can be used as a component of the ClearCommand system or as a stand-alone hand mic.
Both the amplifier and radio interface models are intrinsically safe, and meet the applicable requirements of NIOSH and NFPA 1981, 1997 edition.

|MSA offers Air Masks in two designs --mask mounted regulator (MMR) and belt mounted regulator (BMR). Both are available in low pressure (2216 or 3000 psig) and high pressure (4500 psig) versions and can be customized with a variety of air cylinders for regular and extended use applications. All MSA Air Masks comply with NIOSH requirements. The Ultralite MMR and Custom 4500 MMR and Ultralite II and Custom 4500 II SCBAs comply with NFPA-1981, 1997 edition.|

WorkMask II SCBA
|Sleek, rugged and lightweight, the MMR Xtreme Air Mask is the future of self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA). It has the best of everything -- from its comfortable, wide vision Ultra Elite® facepiece and clean, low profile mask mounted regulator with large shutoff button, to its high strength yet remarkably lightweight cylinder options and advanced Black Rhino or Vulcan carrier / harness assembly. Essentially, MMR Extreme Air Masks are the superior options available on the Ultralite and Custom 4500 MMR Air Masks.||With MSA MMR Air Masks, performance is enhanced by a unique split regulator design. The regulator's first stage is located on the cylinder backplate, while the second stage attaches to the user's facepiece. The low pressure Ultralite MMR Air Mask can be used with cylinders pressurized to either 2216 psig or 3000 psig. The Custom 4500 MMR Air Mask is used with 4500 psig cylinders. All MMR units can be easily upgraded to include the Quick-Fill option for emergency breathing system, plus fast, convenient refilling of air cylinders.
For added versatility of MMR Air Masks, dual purpose conversion kits are available to provide the capabilities of an air line respirator and SCBA in one. Cylinder choices remain the same.
|Ultralite II and Custom 4500 II Air Masks are similar in versatility to their MMR counterparts, but feature a belt mounted regulator. Available with unique Quick-Fill option for emergency escape plus fast, convenient refilling of cylinders. Ultralite II and Custom 4500 II Air Masks are also available in dual purpose versions, which combine the capabilities of an SCBA and an air line respirator in one unit.||The WorkMask II and WorkMask MMR SCBA are economical, lightweight and durable units designed for use in industrial environments that do not require compliance with NFPA-1981. The WorkMask II and WorkMask MMR SCBAs are not designed for firefighting.
An optional Dual Purpose version combines the capabilities of an SCBA and an air line respirator for greater versatility.
|MSA has you protected with the latest enhancements to our MMR Xtreme Air Mask, the fire service's first NFPA 1981-2002 edition, NIOSH-approved CBRN self contained breathing apparatus.
MSA's new MMR Xtreme CBRN SCBA was developed to provide you with positive protection from CBRN agents, according to the stringent live-agent test regimen of the NIOSH approval process. Because conventional silicone diaphragms are among the SCBA components most vulnerable to CBRN agent permeation, our positive protection design seals the new diaphragm of the Firehawk regulator from any intial contact with contaminants. The key to this protection are these revolutionary components, which lie within the CBRN version of the Firehawk second stage regulator:
These components, plus one of the industry's best fitting facepieces, MSA's Ultra Elite facepiece, ensure reliable and effective respiratory protection not only from agents that might be used in a terrorist attack, but also from many of the lethal byproducts of combustion that are encountered in everyday firefighting. Chemical plants, nuclear facilities, laboratories, and other industries harbor unknown and life threatening environments that you might have to face. With MSA's new CBRN MMR Xtreme Air Mask, you can be positive you are protected on every call.
CBRN upgrade kits for MMR Xtreme Air Masks:
MSA pursued and received CBRN approvals for the latest and most popular SCBA components. These include the Vulcan and Black Rhino Carrier/Harness assemblies and the Ultra Elite facepiece with 4-point adjustable SpeeD-ON Head harness. If you have a rubber or 5-point SpeeD-ON head harness, your facepieces can easily be upgraded to the most current 4-point style.
Stealth Cylinders are the lightest SCBA air cylinders ever developed by MSA. They feature a unique outer wrap made of lightweight, high performance carbon fibers, which reduce cylinder weight by two to six pounds when compared to fiberglass wrapped cylinders and as much as ten pounds when compared to aluminum cylinders. They are available in five models to accommodate a wide range of applications.
|Fiberglass Fully-Wound Composite Cylinders
These lightweight models feature a fiberglass outerwrap and are available in low and high pressure versions, including a low profile model for confined spaces work. They are color coded to differentiate cylinder pressure.
|Fiberglass Hoop-Wound Composite Cylinder
Available in a 30 minute low pressure model, MSA's hoop-wound cylinder features fiberglass wrapping and provides a cost saving advantage over fully-wound composites. In general, hoop-wound cylinders are three to five pounds heavier than fully-wound fiberglass or carbon-wrapped cylinders.
Less expensive than MSA's hoop-wound cylinder, this 30 minute low pressure cylinder features all-aluminum construction. Because of its weight (approximately 18 pounds), it is designed primarily for customers who don't use an SCBA frequently. The 3AL Cylinder also offers an indefinite service life. Unlike composite cylinders, it does not have to be retired after 15 years of use, provided the cylinder meets the requirements of the hydrotest, which must be done every 5 years.
