| The Chin-Type Gas Mask provides face and respiratory protection against particulate matter, vapors and gases by means of a lightweight, replaceable canister. The small, oval shaped canister and facepiece are designed to permit downward head movement. This comfortable, lightweight model is often chosen as an alternative to the heavier models.
The MSA chin type gas mask is designed for respiratory protection against a specific gas or group of gases as indicated by canister identification. The gas mask assembly has the following Maximum Use Conditions: Entry -- 100x the Permissible Exposure Level -- do not exceed the Immediately Dangerous to Life or Health (ILDH) concentration. Escape -- contaminate concentration up to the maximum use concentration of the gas mask (generally, 5,000 ppm (0.5%) by volume, providing there is adequate oxygen (19.5% by volume) to support life. At these upper use conditions, the service time may be extremely short (as low as 12 minutes). The user must rely on sense of smell and taste, or the presence of eye irritation to warn him/her of the end of the useful life of the canister. A belt mounted version of the chin type gas mask is also available. This version allows the wearer to attach the cannister to a belt clip. A corrugated breathing tube connects the canister to the facepiece. |

| The MSA Super-Size and Industrial-Size gas masks are designed for respiratory protection against a specific gas or group of gases, as indicated by the canister identification. The gas mask assembly has the following Maximum Use Conditions:
Entry -- 100 x the Permissible Exposure Level -- do not exceed the Immediately Dangerous to Life or Health (IDLH) concentrations. Escape -- contaminant concentrations up to the maximum use conditions of the gas mask (generally 20,000 ppm (2%) by volume), providing there is adequate oxygen (19.5% by volume) to support life. At these upper use conditions, the service time may be extremely short (as low as 12 minutes). The user must, therefore, rely heavily on sense of smell and taste, or the presence of eye irritation to warn him / her of the end of the useful life of the canister. As indicated by its name, the Super-Size gas mask has an extra large canister which will last approximately twice as long as the equivalent industrial size canister, because of a larger volume of chemical fill. |

| The MSA Type N Gas Mask is approved for respiratory protection for acid gases, organic vapors, carbon monoxide and ammonia. The Type N gas mask has the following Maximum Use Conditions:
Entry -- 100x the Permissible Exposure Level -- do not exceed the Immediately Dangerous to Life or Health (IDLH) concentration. Escape -- contaminant concentrations up to 20,000 ppm (2%) acid gases, carbon monoxide and organic vapors by volume even when the 20,000 ppm (2%) or 30,000 (3%) is above the ILDH concentration, providing there is adequate oxygen to support life. At these upper limits, the service life may be extremely short (as low as 6 minutes). The user must, therefore, rely heavily on the sense of smell and tast, or the presence of eye irritation to warn of the approach of the end of useful life of the canister. Since carbon monoxide cannot be detected by odor or taste, the window indicator indicates the end of useful life of the canister. The type N gas mask has a Window-Cator® Canister, which contains a moisture indicator. This small, round window in the front of the canister has two half circles. One shows a light blue reference color; the other a darker blue indicating color. As the sorbent is penetrated during use and absorbs moisture, the indicator color gradually grows lighter -- closer to the reference color. When the colors match, the canister is losing its effectiveness against carbon monoxide and should be replaced. |
