Orion Plus IR Detector
The new MSA ORIONplus is an innovative, highly flexible, 1-5 gas infrared portable instrument for detecting the presence of oxygen, hydrogen sulfide, carbon monoxide, combustible gas and carbon dioxide. This new detector can be used as a personal monitor for measuring and pre-entry checks, or after CO2 extinguishing. Designed and built by MSA, the ORIONplus IR Detector provides incredible value in an extremely compact, convenient unit. The ORION plus Detector features the largest fully graphic LCD of its kind, with high-level contrast and bright, homogenous background lighting. Easy-to-read text size presents all data at a single glance for maximum work place concentration. Users can select alarm setpoints on toxic sensors for STEL and TWA, along with oxygen deficiency and enrichment.

Reliable IRDA communication reduces connection failures and annoying cables on your desk. Stored data and instrument settings can easily be accessed via ORIONplus LINK® software on your PC. Gases will be displayed simultaneously and alarm setpoints can be altered if desired.

The strong, carbon-filled plastic case provides optimal protection against RFI and corrosive gases. This durable case carries an IP54 rating and will stand up to some of the harshest environments.

The ORIONplus Detector accommodates either a rechargeable NiMH battery pack or disposable alkaline batteries. Full battery recharging takes only three hours, with battery run time of approximately eleven hours. When used together, the interchangeable NiMH and alkaline battery packs allow for a run time long enough to cover double shifts.

An integral, continuously running pump with electrical PermaCheck™ function is standard in the ORIONplus Detector. For remote sampling, a multifilter system protects the pump and sensors from dust and water in harsh and rough environments.

Intuitive Calibration
The ORIONplus autocalibration feature greatly simplifies calibration and reduces training needs. Adjustments are limited to the expected span gas range, which helps to prevent improper calibration. Standard calibration of the LEL sensor is for methane, propane or pentane, and can be conveniently executed with a single calibration gas cylinder.

Solaris™ Multigas Detector (new fall 2003)
The Solaris Multigas Detector is an affordable, durable, reliable, easy to use portable instrument for detecting the presence of 02, H2S, CO and combustible gas. It is designed to withstand rough handling in harsh environments. Best of all, it delivers MSA's commitment to quality at the smallest size and even smaller price.
The Solaris Multigas Detector is ergonomically designed and provides the best value in its class. At a low, competitive cost, it provides state of the art engineering and the high quality you've come to expect from MSA. It weighs under 8 ounces is 4-1/2" H X 2-1/2" W X 1-1/4" D.
The Solaris is cased in rubberized armor that helps to absorb impact if the unit is accidentally dropped and the IP 65 rating provides superior protection against liquid and dust ingress. This also helps ensure that the Solaris Multigas Detector will perform reliably in the harshest industrial environments.
The Solaris unit can be easily configured by the user to detect up to four gases simultaneously. Users can also easily modify most instrument functions including alarm and expected calibration gas values, industrial hygiene (STEL, TWA) functions and many other operating ande set-up parameters. And all critical values are protected behind a user selectable password option.
The triple alarm system utilized in the Solaris is outstanding. High intensity LED visual alarms are visible from all angles. The Solaris unit also has a user enabled LED that flashes a green light every 15 seconds simply to indicate to the user that the instrument is working properly. The Solaris audible alarm is typically measured in excess of 100 dB! Its shrill tone calls urgency to potentially dangerous situations and is not easily confused with other workplace sounds. A strong vibrating alarm is included as a standard feature.
Even with the small size of the Solaris Multigas Detector, this instrument offers a superior display. Its backlighting provides exceptional contrast, making it easy to read in low light conditions and from a variety of angles. All gas concentrations are displayed simultaneously and can be easily identified at a glance. The Solaris unit display also contains an alphanumeric message bar that clearly displays specific commands and easily guides users through various instrument functions.
Calibration is intuitive and is accomplished with the push of a single button. This auto calibration feature greatly simplifies calibration and features built in logic and enables the use of a wide variety of calibration gas concentrations.
The rechargeable lithium ion battery provides 14+ hours of continuous operation and out performs other battery technologies in extreme environmental conditions. The Solaris battery will fully charge in less than four hours and will still maintain over 80% of its original capacity after 500 recharge cycles. There is nothing extra to buy — all Solaris units are shipped with a charging cradle and power cord.
Order the datalog option, which is available for the Solaris, to make the unit fully compatible with the TIM (Total Instrument Manager) System. As the industry's leading computerized calibration system, the TIM System allows users to automatically calibrate their instruments and track calibration records.
The Solaris Multigas Detector offers an optional powered sampling pump that is contained within the sampling probe accessory. The basic pump platform uses the same proven technology as other MSA portable instruments. The pump probe can be used with up to 50 feet of tubing for remote sampling applications. The pump module also includes an extensive filtering system to keep liquid and particulate contaminants at bay.
The Solaris Multigas Detector comes with a two year, all inclusive warranty.

As the first gas detector with simplified three button operation, the Passport Alarm set the standards for simplicity and users typically require less training to operate it.

The Passport is packed with the features needed to help ensure worker safety. Capable of monitoring up to five gases simultaneously, it is equipped with bright multidirectional alarm lights and a loud alert horn. The display faces the user, allowing hands free operation when it is worn on the belt or on a strap around the neck. Watchman® Multigas Monitor
The Watchman Multigas Monitor is a durable, portable instrument used to detect and monitor combustible gases, oxygen, and toxic gases in workplace atmospheres, especially in confined spaces such as manholes, storage tanks, tank cars, vaults, mines, and sewers. Designed for rugged handling, the monitor incorporates the state of the art technology of the Passport Personal Alarm in a strong aluminum housing. The Watchman Monitor is ideal for long jobs in heavy industrial environments, as the instrument will run up to 16 hours on a single charge.

Gasport® Gas Tester - Detects three ranges of methane from ppm to percent by volume
The Gasport Gas Tester is a handheld instrument than can be used by gas utility workers to test simultaneously for the presence of combustible methane, carbon monoxide, hydrogen sulfide, and oxygen enrichment or deficiency. The concentration of all gases is shown simultaneously on the unit's backlit display with both numeric and bar graph displays available. All data can be downloaded to a personal computer through MSA's optional Data Docking Module. Featuring an internal pump that draws samples continuously, the instrument is designed for easy, one handed operation with just three push buttons. The Gasport Gas Tester is used to detect potentially hazardous leaks from gas meters, bar holes, furnaces, pipes, flues, storage tanks, survey sites and other locations.

The Gasport Gas Tester is approved for use in Class I Division I, Groups A, B, C and D; Class II Division I, Groups E, F, G and Class III hazardous locations.
