JACKSON SAFETY AUTO-DARKENING SWITCHING SPEED ADVANTAGE:
This technology is used in advanced aircraft cockpit displays, nuclear flash protection devices, 3-D viewing systems and exclusively in Jackson Safety EQC auto-darkening welding filters. Liquid crystal components use energy to cause liquid crystal molecules to uniquely orient in the clear state. A portion of the molecules are already in their "ready" state, so that when the high voltage pulse is applied, only a portion of the molecules must rotate to cause the filter to switch from light to dark, thus giving Jackson Safety EQCs the fastest switching speed in the industry.

AUTO-DARKENING FEATURES:
Delay Adjustment: controls the amount of time the lens will stay dark, before transitioning back to the light state, after you have stopped the arc. This is beneficial when making several consecutive welds in the same area and the light state is not necessary to get set for the next weld. The higher the number, the longer the unit will stay dark after the arc before transitioning to the light state.
Sensitivity Adjustment: allows user to fine tune the unit depending on ambient light (such as the sun, overhead lighting or other welders in close proximity) or arc intensity. This feature allows low amp, DC TIG welding that other units cannot do. The higher the number, the more sensitive the unit will be to ambient light or arc intensity, thereby transitioning to dark with a less intense light.
Solar Battery Life Extender: solar panel that extends the welding hours provided by a set of batteries, thus decreasing battery replacement costs and downtime
Intellisense™: allows the unit to detect weld less than 5 amps. This feature is useful for those who are performing low-am­perage welds, primarily low-amp TIG welding.
3N1: provides three modes of operation for the lens: grind (shade 3), weld (shades 9-12) and oxyfuel gas cutting (shade 5). This allows the welder the ability to wear one hood for every welding process, thus eliminating downtime.
HTLS Light state: maintains the clearest PI filter available. The HTLS Light state provides good color and visibility for hood-down set-up in environments with low ambient light.
Independent Redundant Sensors: in units of two or more sensors, if one sensor is blocked or damaged, the unit's performance will not be compromised. Therefore, welders can work in tight areas, where a sensor may be blocked, without any interruptions.
Auto-Off: battery maximizing feature that manually shuts-down the unit when not in use or 20 minutes after the last arc is struck.
ClimaSensor™ Technology: tests the ambient air temperature three times per minute and automatically adjusts the lens accordingly to ensure a true shade when welding. ClimaSensor technology is useful to those who are welding in extremely hot or cold environments.
EMI Coating: a special coating applied to the casing of the unit to protect the electronics against extreme
electromagnetic interference. This coating is essential for welders who generate higher than normal electromagnetic inter­ference, such as TIG welding, particularly AC TIG, and other alternating current welding applications, or are in an environ­ment with a concentration of this interference.
Bandpass Filter: a chemical treatment applied to one side of glass inserted in all Jackson EOCs. The chemical treatment only allows visible light to pass, and does not allow Ultraviolet or Infrared radiation to pass thru it. Jackson EOCs bandpass protects to a shade 14, even in the "off" state.
Low Voltage Indicator: when lit, alerts the welder to change the batteries in their EOC. Replacement batteries must be alkaline batteries for optimal performance. Jackson recommends the same battery brand as what originally came with the product to ensure a proper fit and connection with the unit.
