**Polypropylene Information**
How to avoid sweating and freezing during high energy work at cold temperatures? Polypropylene does not absorb moisture. Body Perspiration is transported away from the body. FR Wool
FR Standards The standard ASTM F 2302 specifies the performance requirements for protective clothing for workers exposed to heat and flame. The materials are tested for after-flame times (seconds). Limited flame spread (char length) and resistance to melting and dripping. These products are intended for situations involving possible incidental flame contact or short-term high heat exposure. However, only wear these products underneath other clothing that is considered flame resistant. Warning: products that show acceptable flame resistance per ASTM F 2302 are not intended for direct flame contact or for prolonged high heat exposure. These products will not protect against all flame and heat exposures. Conduct a hazard and risk assessment to determine the suitability of this product for your application. **Fibre Pile**
FIBREPILE Do you think heavier is warmer? It's air insulating against cold. HH W-Fibrelock fibrepile™ is light weight and traps a lot of air. WHEN YOU WORK HARD IN COLD WINTER WEATHER, YOU NEED A VENTILATING LAYER BETWEEN UNDERWEAR AND OUTER SHELL. THIS IS KNOWLEDGE SHARED BY LUMBERMEN, FARMERS, FISHERMEN AND OTHERS WHO WORK OUTDOORS IN THE SCANDINAVIAN CLIMATE. AMONGST THESE GROUPS, THE ORIGINAL HELLY HANSEN FIBRE PILE HAS BEEN A FAVOURITE FOR 40 YEARS. FIBRE PILE WAS DEVELOPED BY HELLY HANSEN WORKWEAR'S ENGINEERS ALMOST HALF A CENTURY BEFORE FLEECE. JACKETS, TROUSERS AND SUITS BASED ON FIBRE PILE STILL OFFER UNPARALLELED INSULATING PROPERTIES AND MOISTURE TRANSPORTATION. Consider the conditions The thermal layer retains air which insulates against the cold. At the same time moisture and excess heat are led away from the body and out through the thermal layer, thus avoiding perspiration and increased body temperature. The garments stay dry because synthetic fibres do not retain moisture. Insulation properties and moisture transportation depend on the type of fibre, its structure and thickness. It is the volume of air between the fibres that dictates the garment"s warmth. On mild days in winter, autumn and spring, fleece may often be the best alternative, as this fabric passes more body heat through and is lighter to wear. However at lower temperatures Helly Hansen Workwear"s original Fibre Pile is unequalled. It will keep you warm and dry, even during hard forestry work at extremely low temperatures. Unique concept Fibres with a shell structure, such as wool with structured synthetic fibres in a spun yarn, retain a lot of air, providing superior insulating properties. In Fibre Pile brushed and heatprocessed fibres are anchored in a w-shape to the underlying vertical structure. The special open structure of the elastic fibres release excess heat, thus maintaining the heat balance during strenuous activity. The spun polyester yarn conducts moisture away from the body and dries quickly. The fabric is soft, flexible and comfortable. Helly Hansen Workwear"s patented FibreLock® knitting technique makes original Fibre Pile durable. Fibre Pile is extremely hardwearing and can be washed at 40° C. Each garment has been tested, approved and marked in accordance with EN342.

Fibre pile, which provides very good insulation, is recommended for cold days with a low or moderate activity level. However many people find that they become too hot and start to perspire when temperatures are moderate and the work is intensive. On days like this Helly Hansen Workwear"s Crafter Fleece™ comes into its own. Warm and dry Fleece jackets and sweaters form the thermal layer under the protection layer. They can also be used as outer clothing on cool days. Crafter Fleece ™ garments keep you warm by trapping body heat between the fleece fibres. At the same time, the fabric releases excess heat and provides good ventilation. High comfort Crafter Fleece ™ is made of spun polyester yarn which has been brushed and heat processed. Because the fibres are synthetic, they do not retain moisture so the garments dry quickly and resist light rain and snow. Warmth in relation to weight is very good, resulting in light, functional garments. Our attention to design and comfort also makes Crafter Fleece™ suitable for indoor use.

FR Standards

Helly Hansen FR Bodywear provides insulation against cold and flame resistance properties complying with the flame resistance requirements of ASTM F 2302, EN 531, and EN 533. The fabric is a midweight interlock knit (200 g) in 50% wool and 50% FR Lenzing, viscose providing permanent flame retardant properties.

FR Thermal Layer
Helly Hansen FR Thermal Layer is made from 80% FR Wool that is Zirpro treated, and 20% FR Polyester as a backside yarn. The fibers are constructed using Helly Hansen's patented FibreLock™ construction, assuring the best insulation without increasing the weight of the garment. The jacket has a metal zipper. All garments in this category comply with the flame resistance requirements of ASTM F 2302, EN 531, and EN 533. HH FR Pile is approved and listed by NATO.

FR Protection Layer
Helly Hansen FR Protection Layer garments are water-proof clothing and your first barrier against flames. We incorporate flame retardant fibers in our full FR range. All garments comply with the flame resistance ASTM F 2302, EN 531, and EN 533.

WARNING: PRODUCTS THAT SHOW ACCEPTABLE FLAME RESISTANCE PER ASTM F 2302 ARE NOT INTENDED FOR DIRECT FLAME CONTACT OR FOR PROLONGED HIGH HEAT EXPOSURE.
