Extreme caution must be used when wearing Cougar Paws shoes. Improper use of the shoes and pads can result in loss of footing, which can lead to serious injury or death. The shoes are not designed to be used on wet, oily, or icy surfaces; snow; frost; loose debris; or powder. The shoes should also not be worn every day or tracked through mud, water, ice, oil, snow, or grassy surfaces. The user must inspect the shoes before each use to ensure that the pad is firmly attached to the shoe. Check the edges of the pad to ensure the velcro is holding the entire pad to the shoe. If any portion of the pad is not firmly attached to the sole of the shoe, the shoe must be replaced immediately. Under no circumstances should the shoes be used after five months of daily use. After that much use, the velcro can become brittle or blunted, causing the pad to slip or disengage form the shoe. The user must also inspect the shoes before each use to ensure the pad is not worn. When the Cougar Paws sole wears to within 1/4 inch of the shoe bottom, it should be replaced immediately. Always use appropriate fall protection, including but not limited to, approved safety belts, life lines (lanyards), and/or guard rail protection that meets or exceeds federal, state, and local regulations. Extreme care should also be taken when going up or down ladders or scaffolding due to the lack of a heel on the pad.
