D.C. HiPot Adapter and Phase Tell Tester
DC HiPot Adapter and Phase Tell Tester
Above: top two images - HiPot Adapter and illustration showing correct usage
bottom row: Phase Tell Tester (left) and Phase Tell Tester in use (right)

The DC HiPot adapter is an encapsulated high voltage rectifier for use on the Hastings Cat. No. 6702 Phase Tell Meter. When used in conjunction with the Phase Tell, it will enable the operator to perform the following tests on systems up to and including 35KV phase to phase:

  1. Test section of underground cables to determine the integrity of insulation, ie., failed cables
  2. Determine if all grounds have been removed after completion of working on a de-energized underground system
  • The HiPot adapter housing is fiberglass, 13" in length. A bell shaped female end allows it to be coupled to the end of the Phase Tell after the conductor hook is removed. The appropriate URD bushing adapter can then be installed on the other end of the HiPot adapter
  • Convenient - more portable and easier to operate than conventional cable testing equipment
  • Safety - use of the DC HiPot adapter to test cables for faults eliminates undue stress on the cable insulation when used in conjunction with the Phase Tell

Regulator Neutral Detector
Regulator Neutral Detector
  • The RND (Regulator Neutral Detector) insures that the operator has the regulator in its neutral position prior to disconnecting the regulator from the circuit (bypassing)
  • Use of the RND eliminates high or low voltages caused by cycling the regulator to the upper or lower limits and then counting steps back to neutral
  • The RND provides benefits not found in existing testers presently being used for detecting the regulator neutral
  • Use of the RND may eliminate outages taken because of uncertainties of the regulator neutral position
  • The RND verifies the neutral position on regulators
  • The RND works with step type and induction type regulators
  • 0 to 2000 volt range is shown in one volt increments
  • The RND works with all regulators up to and including 34.5KV systems
  • No range selector is required
  • The RND has a digital display with 1/2" high LCD digits for easy viewing
  • Lighted meter for use at night, or in poor lighting conditions can be switched on by the operator
  • The RND is powered by a readily available 9 volt battery and is field replaceable. If a low battery condition exists, it will be indicated on the display
  • The RND verifies the step indicator has not slipped one step
  • A female universal spline allows unit to be attached to all universal hot sticks
