PreMark® Preformed Thermoplastic Pavement Markings PreMark® high performance retroreflective preformed thermoplastic pavement markings are engineered for enhanced visibility, durability and flexibility. PreMark® contains uniformly distributed glass beads throughout the material so that, as the marking wears, new beads are exposed. PreMark® has no minimum road or air temperature requirements and is designed for use in heavy traffic locations where maximum wear and tear is present. PreMark® does not require preheating of the pavement to a specific temperature prior to application. The list below shows some of the available products in the PreMark line.

DecoMark® Decorative Pavement Markings A virtually endless variety of colors and shapes makes DecoMark® the ideal solution for walkways, specialty markings and custom logos. Use it for entryways, driveways, sidewalk accents, custom logos, horizontal signage and more! DecoMark® does not require any specialized capital equipment or customized tools. Additionally, there is no need for templates or grids. Simply follow the application method using a propane heat torch such as the Flint 2000EX. An infrared heater can be used for large applications. Evenly-spaced indents on the surface of the material provide visual cues, during and after application, to ensure satisfactory adhesion and proper bead embedment. DecoMark® can be applied on asphalt and concrete surfaces. Asphalt reheating is not required and there is no specific road temperature requirement for application. Due to the ease of application, there is minimal worker exposure to traffic and traffic congestion. The work area can open for traffic within minutes after the application is complete. DecoMark® has applications for:

TopMark® Preformed Thermoplastic Detectable Warnings alert pedestrians with visual impairment to stop and proceed with caution. For the visually impaired, there is no margin for error when recognizing the boundary between vehicular and pedestrian areas. That’s why Flint has developed TopMark® preformed thermoplastic detectable warnings. The truncated domes on the surface of TopMark® are easily detectable by cane or underfoot. TopMark® is engineered for retrofit and newly-applied concrete and asphalt applications. TopMark® is supplied in a convenient kit that contains the preformed thermoplastic materials and sealer needed to complete four typical 4 ft. x 2 ft. ramps (or 32 square feet of total application area). Each sheet of the truncated dome material and adhesive is 1 ft. x 2 ft. TopMark® is bonded to a concrete or asphalt surface by simply using the Flint 2000EX propane heat torch and is ready for pedestrian traffic just 20 minutes after application is complete. The flexible construction of TopMark® allows it to conform to irregular surfaces for use on curb ramps, blended transitions, mass transit rail platforms, and public loading areas. In fact, TopMark® can easily be cut to fit special curves and angles. TopMark® is available in yellow, white, black, blue and brick red colors. Once installed, TopMark® provides a long-lasting, easily detectable surface that is slip-resistant and wheelchair friendly. TopMark® is compliant with the current Public Rights-of-Way Accessibility Guidelines as published by the U.S. Access Board and the ADA/ABA-AG (formerly ADAAG). |
Dura-Post® Heavy Duty Tubular Markers Dura-Post® is a heavy duty flexible tubular marker designed to withstand extreme abuse. Made of a single piece of injection molded 100% urethane plastic, Dura-Post® retains its extreme flexibility and impact resistance in temperatures as low as -20° F or as high as 140° F. Dura-Post® provides a high value in those situations where traffic is likely to hit or run over the tubular marker. The following list identifies key areas where durability and potential damage could be of concern and where Dura-Post® would be cost effective: • Channelizing Devices With no protruding metal parts, Dura-Post® is completely safe on vehicles. Additionally, 50% of the plastic used to make Dura-Post® tubular markers is recycled, making it safer for the environment as well. |
DELTA Instruments - Accurate and Traceable Retroreflectivity Measurements
Highway statistics indicate that you are three times more likely to have an auto accident at night versus during the day. While circumstances such as driver fatigue, driver’s age and adverse weather conditions are contributing factors, the nighttime visibility of traffic control signs and pavement markings also play a major role in the increased risk. Led by the Federal Highway Administration’s (FHWA) movement towards retroreflectivity guidelines, more government agencies are adopting sign and pavement marking performance standards. As a result, the reliability of the instruments that measure performance becomes crucial. DELTA Instruments were developed in order to objectively monitor the optical performance of today’s traffic control signs and markings. Located in Denmark, DELTA is a world leader in the development of photometric instruments to measure the retroreflectivity of pavement markings and sign sheeting. Flint is the exclusive distributor in the United States, Canada and Latin America for the following DELTA instruments:
Traceable and Verifiable DELTA’s photometric instruments are engineered to the industry’s most-exacting tolerances. Each is calibrated to the Physicalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt (PTB) light standard, recognized world-wide as the most accurate and accepted source for the measurement of light. This calibration means that the test data from every DELTA instrument is traceable to, and can be verified by, the PTB. Additionally, DELTA’s testing laboratory is one of only a handful of labs around the world to be accredited by the PTB. Traceability has several very important advantages: Reproducibility – traceability to a single national standard helps to ensure that all DELTA instruments calibrated to that standard will get the same measurements on a given spot within +/-5%. Repeatability – The Certificate of Conformance and Traceability that is included with every DELTA instrument ensures that the readings taken with a DELTA instrument are within +/-2% in repeatability. Tort Liability – Documented traceability provides credibility to performance measurements collected by the instrument that may be questions during potential liability cases. Traceability Process How DELTA ensures accuracy and traceability with every photometric device. Step 1: Primary reference lamp is housed at the PTB in Germany. Step 2: Officials at the PTB calibrate all their own photometric equipment to this single lamp. Step 3: DELTA engineers travel to Germany where their own reference lamp is measured and calibrated to the Primary reference lamp. Step 4: The DELTA reference lamp is used to calibrate the company’s photometric testing equipment. Step 5: All calibration values for DELTA’s instruments, including the LTL-X, LTL 2000, LTL 2000Y, RetroSign®4500, and QD30, are derived using the company’s PTB-accredited photometric testing equipment. Through Flint's Service Agreement Program, factory trained and authorized personnel provide a thorough annual maintenance inspection to keep each DELTA instrument operating at optimum performance. Flint technicians thoroughly check, adjust and/or repair any aspect of the instrument which fails to meet the high quality standards set by DELTA during the original manufacturing process. |
